December 8, 2009 Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's been fun. I started this site almost eight years ago, updated it quite a lot for a while, but eventually left it to gather dust. I don't play Diablo II anymore. I beat the game with at least one character of every class in both 1.0x and 1.1x, and feel I've done pretty much everything I want to do with it. And since I don't play anymore, I've been having a bit of trouble drumming up any enthusiasm for updating the site. But mostly it's just become a liability. I got a nasty email a while back from some guy who said the D2 Loader contained a "Trojain" and that I "should not be able to have a web site". I used it for years and never had any problem with it, and what with sharing everything I do and giving so freely of my own time and effort, I'm not sure why someone would assume I'd be trying to infect people's computers, or how he became the authority on who should be able to "have a web site" but whatever. I took it down. Then yesterday some guy sent me an Email asking me to remove the Exocet font from my site. He claimed to be the guy who designed it, and he whined a little bit about not making any money off of it because people like me give it away for free. You know what? I found it on the net, for free, and was just passing it along. That's all this site has ever been. Me trying to provide tools, information, and other D2-related stuff for other D2 players. That's it. I'm not trying to infect anyone's computers, or put anyone out of business. I posted a lot of information, items lists, even fun and hopefully entertaining stuff. I never posted any cheats, or anything I thought was illegal or even immoral. That's not my style. But people seem to assume malice even when ignorance is the far more likely culprit. Especially in my case. Whatever. It is no longer a problem. Orbert |
